Sächsische Bläserakademie

The Saxonian Woodwind Academie was founded in 1990 by the principal windplayers of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Chemnitz to complete the orchestral and operatic playing with chambermusic. Windserenades of the 18th and 19th century are played with the classical octet supported by the obligatory double bass, but also contemporary music for six to nine players is part of the ensembles repertoire. In addition compositions for large wind ensembles are performed in cooperation with musicians of leading Saxonian orchestras.

The ensemble’s debut concert took place on the 3rd of October 1990 as part of the Chemnitz Artfestival „Begegnungen“. Concerts are given all over Germany, including the Dresden music festival, the Parkfestival Sanssouci, the Berlin courtconcerts and the German Mozartfestival. CD and broadcasting productions are made in cooperation with the „MDR“ and „Deutschlandsender Kultur“. Concert trips led the ensemble to Austria, Italy, Belgium and Isreal.
